Uganda Cranes’ Hassan Wasswa Mawanda.

Egypt based midfielder cum defender Hassan Wasswa heaped praise on local based players and wished them all the best in the forthcoming CECAFA and CHAN tournaments.

Wasswa was left smiling after the shift the local based players put in as the Cranes drew 1-1 with Congo Brazzaville in the last group E game of the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“We played as a team and as players, we are happy with the result we got,” said Wasswa. “Overall, it’s not disaster to finish second in the group. Now we are back at club and the focus shifts to next game in March,” he added.

However, our local based players are now focusing on CHAN and CECAFA. Actually, the local based players showed they can play and wish them all the best in CHAN and am confident they will do well in CHAN.

Basena summoned only seven foreign based players for the engagement against the Red Devils with the rest local based.
