KCCA Football Club striker Muhammad ‘Jaggarson’ Shaban scored twice in Uganda Hippo’s 2-0 victory over Zambia Young Chipolopolo Stars in the COSAFA U-20 Championship at the Arthur Davies Stadium, Kitwe on Wednesday.
Shaban, who had earlier hit the woodwork in the opening half opening the scoring 7 minutes into the second stanza of the game.
The sharp thinking forward reacted faster to tap-in a Steven Mukwala’s well laid ball from the right as Uganda took the lead.
Four minutes later, goalkeeper Saidi Keni orchestrated the second goal with a long diagonal ball that Shaban raced onto to loop the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
Uganda Hippos’ technical bench called for an early change in the first half replacing Pius Obuya with Allan Okello.
In the second half, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye paved way for URA midfielder Kagimu Shafik before Qatar based Victor Matovu replaced Mustafa Kizza in the dying moments of the game.
Shaban continued to trouble the Zambian backline but was unlucky to smile home with a hat-trick.
Uganda is now top of Group A with their next game on Friday against Swaziland, who fell 3-2 to Malawi in the opener.
