Rwanda Coach Antoine Hey has revealed that winning the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup isn’t his side’s priority.

The Germany who guided the Amavubi to the finals of the CHAN 2018 revealed this after his side lost 3-1 to Zanzibar at the ongoing tournament in Kenya, their second loss on the bounce after defeat to Harambee Stars.

“Winning CECAFA is not my top priority here,” he told the media. “The main goal is to ensure players learn and gain experience ahead of CHAN,” he added.

The loss against Zanzibar showed us what we need to improve and how much work needs to be done before going to CHAN.

Rwanda sits bottom of group A that has Kenya, Libya, Zanzibar and Tanzania.

Against the Islanders, Hey left many of his first teamers on the bench as he tested the reserves.
