Parliament of Uganda Football team successfully defended the soccer title after winning all their games in convincing fashion during the 2017 East African Inter-Parliamentary Games in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In the three games played, Uganda won all the matches, scoring 12 goals and conceding just twice.

From the 7-0 victory against Kenya, Uganda overcame Burundi 3-1 in the second match before crowning the tourney with a hard fought 2-1 win against Tanzania on Thursday.

Usual suspect, Brian Arinaitwe, who has scored in all the three matches also scored for Uganda against hosts Tanzania.

Vocal Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammed Nsereko finished as two scorer of the tournament with five goals to his personal goal account.

Uganda also performed well in netball, humiliating Kenya 44-11.

Former Uganda national athlete, Julius Acon rewinded back the clock with three personal gold medals in 1500M, 400M and 800M races.

The ladies athletics team of Suubi Kinyamatama, Anna Adeke,Olive Koyekyenga and Babirye Kabanda also won gold in the 4×100 relays event.

“We are here to ensure that as much as we participate, but where there is competition, it is good to win in the spirit of the East Africa Community,” M.P Hon Dennis Obua was quoted in an earlier interview.

The countries were engaged in volleyball, football, netball and athletics.

These games are a plat form to network and socialize as well as foster regional cooperation and mutual understanding amongst the member states.

Athletics:

Uganda won gold in 200M, 400M, 800M & 1500M, Gold in 4X100M Women (Team of Suubi Kinyamatama, Anna Adeke,Olive Koyekyenga and Babirye Kabanda)
