Zimbabwe Cheetahs will start their preparations for 2018 Rugby sevens World Cup on Saturday at Harare Sports Club.
The side fell to Uganda Rugby Cranes in the final of the Africa sevens 10-7 as the hosts needed a late try from hero Adrian Kasito to come from behind.
Zimbabwe, will be making their fifth appearance after featuring at the 1997, 2001, 2009 and 2013 tournaments.
The Cheetahs, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa will be the four African countries that will travel to San Francisco for the showpiece from 20-22 July.
Cheetahs’ manager Donald Mangenje expects close to 40 players to attend the training camp.
“The training camp is still on as planned and we have extended the invitation to local and international players because we want to give everyone a chance to make the squad,” he told chronicle.co.zw.
Zimbabwe will face Uganda in Kampala between March 16-17 in a trial just after a trip in South Africa a week before.
