Peter Apell smiled home as the overall winner during the Castle lite January monthly golf mug at Entebbe Golf Club.

The handicap 14 golfer scored 69 nett to topple 66 other golfers during the one day championship held at the lake side golfing facility.

This was the second event  organized at Entebbe Golf Club in the new year after the Singleton qualification round held at the start of 2018.

Group winners:

Allan Muhereza, handicap 6 played 39 and 40 on the front and back 9 respectively as he tallied 79 gross which is 73 nett to win group A (Handicap 0-9).

Moses Matisko, handicap 5 finished with 77 nett to take the group A runners up slot.

Other outstanding group players included Edwin Tumusiime, Isaac Mariera and Morris Ongwech.

In group B (handicap 10-18), Jude Ochieng, a handicap 12 golfer was the best with 69 nett on countback.

Ochienge scored 35 on the front course before a dismissal 46 on the closing 9 holes as he totaled 81 total gross.

Paul Kasozi Kazenge was first runners up with 70 nett (87 gross).

Handicap 19 golfer Daniel Opwonya claimed group C (Handicap 19-28) with 71 nett (on countback) having scored 45 gross apiece on both the first and closing 9 holes.

Joseph Mubiru, handicap 23 also finished with 71 nett after 45 and 50 gross scores on the first 9 and back 9 respective holes.

Pamela Tumusiime was the overall lady winner with 73 nett as Rhoda Tumusiime followed suit with 75 nett.

Paul Goldring, a handicap 26 golfer won the seniors with 79 nett and Robert Busingye (handicap 16) was the best guest golfer with 72 nett.

The mugs competitions are held every month at Entebbe Club over the period of a year with the overall golfer crowned at the end of the 12 month’s action.

The points for each of the golfers are cumulative over the 365 days.
