Susan Muwonge made a spectacular return to the National Rally Championship as the 2018 season commenced over the weekend in Mbarara.

The former NRC champion proved she still has the pace after a sublime performance in the two-day event.

Co-driven by Edmond Kyeyune, Muwonge turned her day one seventh position into third overall. She was 6 minutes and 47seconds behind event winner Jas Mangat.

“We went into the rally well composed in everything that we were doing. And we were well prepared in all aspects as well,” she told Kawowo Sports.

Muwonge last featured in a National rally event during the 2016 Fort Portal rally.

Her participation in Mbarara was highly anticipated to gauge her pace among the rest of the top drivers.

“I have never cut back on my pace. Sometimes what people perceive is totally different from the reality.

“My times can determine the pace. I have been that close. I can only promise them more of me.”

Muwonge will be looking at full competition this year.

“Since I have appeared for the season opener, expect to see more of me in the coming events this year,” she asserted.
