Gold Coast 7s | Uganda’s Results

  • Wales 31-5 Uganda
  • Fiji 54-00 Uganda
  • Uganda 33-10 Sri Lanka

Uganda Sevens suffered a humiliating exit at the Gold Coast Sevens after terribly stumbling against Fiji and Wales on Saturday.

The national sevens side first took Robina Stadium turf against Wales and went down 10-o in the first half. James Odong’s second half try was only a consolation for the Ugandans.

It could only get worse for Tolbert Onyango’s men as Fiji were lying in wait. The Olympic Gold medalists demolished Uganda 54-00 with African champions bearing reaching Fiji’s 22.

Tries from Kalione Nasoko, Paula Dranisinukula, Ratu Vakurinabili, skipper Jerry Tuwai, Amenoni Nasilasila, Sevuloni Moncenecagi, Vatemo Ravouvou and Eroni Sau condemned Uganda.

However, the East Africans had something to smile about at the group stage as they over powered Sri Lanka in their final pool match.

Tries from Timothy Kisiga, Pius Ogena, skipper Michael Okorach, James Odong and Adrian Kasiito coupled with four conversions by Philip Wokorach powered Uganda to a 33-10 win over the Asians.

Danushka Wijekoon gave Sri Lanka hope with the opening try of the game, before bringing his side within two 12-10 by halftime.
