Huge turn up for the Uganda 2018 Pro Tennis Circuits

2018 Uganda Pro Tennis Circuits:

• 27^th April – 27^th May
• At Lugogo Tennis Courts, Kampala

2018 is arguably the golden year in Uganda’s tennis.

After being readmitted to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in January 2018, following a 7 year lacuna, Ugandan tennis is back to life.

Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) has now embarked on a five year strategy in line with the 2024 vision of the ITF.

Now in close collaboration with the International Tennis Federation, Uganda is set to host four professional tennis events from April 27^th to May 27^th 2018 at Lugogo Tennis courts.

At least 200 players are expected  to take part in this month long tournament where majority shall are the world’s finest tennis players vying for ATP qualification points.

The development was confirmed by the chairman of the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA), Cedric Babu Ndilima.

We are delighted that after Uganda was readmitted by the International Tennis Federation, tennis is back to life in Uganda. We shall host the Uganda Pro Circuit for the year 2018. This will  consist of four tournaments over 4 weeks. The total prize money is $60,000. Some of the best upcoming tennis players from all over the world will take part and this will present  chance for some of Uganda’s finest players

There will be qualifying draws for 8 players starting on the 27^th Apirl 2018, to make the main draw.

The main draw of 32 players will then compete for world ranking points. It is worthy noting that the doubles will consist of 16 pairs.

According to the Uganda Tennis Association secretary, Dean Kibirige, the turn up is overwhelming;

Currently over 200 players have registered for this month long championship, that will run until the 27^th May 2018 from  9 am to 5 pm daily. The entry per day is Shs. 5000 and Shs. 10,000 during the four finals.

Economic Value:

Babu believes the championship will impact for the better socially and economically;

Jobs will be created, there will be a spend of about $ 10,000 bring over $1M to Uganda’s economy during the month of May.

Some of Uganda’s players as David Oringa, Simon Ayella, Boris Aguma have already confirmed their participation.

Uganda Tennis Association has partnered with International Tennis Federation along with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Kinetic Management, NITA, Uganda Olympic Committee and other sponsors to make the tournament eventful.
