Six Uganda Junior boxers flagged off for Africa meet in Morocco

A delegation of six Uganda Junior boxers was on Thursday flagged off for the forthcoming Africa Youth Boxing championships slated to start this weekend in Casablanca, Morocco.

The flag off ceremony took place at Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo in Kampala.

The boxers flagged off included Jaffer Onen, Muhammad Mazda Bunya, Collins Mutyaba, Reagan Musoke, John Fisher Odouch and Ukasha Matovu.

In attendance at the flag off ceremony was the president for the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) Moses Muhangi, UBF Patron Godfrey Nyakaana and the 2018 Common Wealth bronze medalist Juma Miiro.

Muhangi , who will also travel as head of delegation advised the youngsters to adhere to the coaches’ instructions if they are yield positive results;

Carry your national flag with pride. Go and fight for your country. Respect your coaches and your way to the gold medals.

The team. captained by Collins Mutyaba will depart on Friday afternoon.

Relatedly, Muhangi fulfilled his promise of the pledged Shs. 1M offer to the Common Wealth medalist, Miiro.

In the recent past, the main accounts for Uganda Boxing Federation were blocked by the rival faction but the activities of the federation have continued to progress including the training expenses of the Junior team, official operational costs and paying the affiliation fees to the world parent body, AIBA.
