If there is any foreign based player in Ethiopia who has been loyal to a single club then it has to be none than one – Robert Odongkara.

For seven complete years since transferring from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in 2011, Odongkara has been a luminous flame for St George Football Club, winning five Ethiopia Premier League honours and being named the goalkeeper of the season six times.

Now, Odongkara seeks for greener pastures at Adama City Football Club, a promising prospect over the years.

The towering goalkeeper who played for Uganda Cranes at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals put pen to paper on a two year employment contract.

“Life revolves and as footballers, we are never permanent. Today I am here, tomorrow there. I thank St George Football Club for the support and love all those years. I am now headed to my new family at Adama to work and serve with passion and diligence” the soft spoken goalkeeper noted.

Before concluding the move to Adama City, a number of other Ethiopian clubs including reigning champions Jimma Aba Jifar, Ethiopian Coffee, Fassil Kenema, Woloyita Dicha and Wolwalo Adigat University had openly expressed interest in capturing.

Trusted sources in Ethiopia indicate that the former Mupero Tanda, Sportive, Mawogola Ssaza and Sports Club Villa Jogoo goalkeeper pocketed a cool $ 60,000 in sign on fees (cash).

Adama hosts their home matches at the Abebe Bikala Stadium in Adama city.

They finished fifth in the previous season with 44 points, 11 points adrift of the surprise winners Jimma Aba Jifar Football Club.

Former Vipers Sports Club goalkeeper Isma Bin Watenga is the other Ugandan goalkeeper in the horn of Africa nation featuring for Ethiopia Bunna Football Club.

The other Ugandans in the Ethiopia top flight league are midfielder Yassar Mugerwa (Fassil Kenema) and Chriszitom Ntambi (Coffee).
