Vipers SC coach Javier Martinez Espinoza defended his side’s tactics against El Merriekh in a game they won 1-0 to advance to the next stage in the Caf Champions League.
The Venoms were uninspiring more so after taking an early lead in the second half and had to suffer as the visitors endlessly attacked.
“Remember this is champions League,” said Espinoza. “That was today’s strategy. Every game has its strategy,” he added.
At home you have to be intelligent. We tried to score early and that play of Tito, Sserunkuma could have been it. Sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t.
The Mexican gaffer also revealed his team has different plans for each game reminding everyone who cared to listen that this is a different competition.
We know this is Champions. You are not going to score 6-0. We have plan A, plan B, plan C.
Vipers’ next opponent is Algerian side Constantine who eliminated Gamtel of Gambia and Espinoza knows what to do.
“We will try to score away and manage it at home. We will do our best to know more about the opponents.
The Venoms play away in Algeria on the weekend of December 14-16, 2018.
