Bashir Mutanda and company will pray for the best form when SC Villa hosts Maroons at Namboole

Sixteen-time Uganda Premier League champions Sports Club Villa and Maroons find themselves in an unfamiliar territory this season.

After nine games apiece, both clubs have had just one victory to smile home about.

In fact, Villa’s only win arrived in their immediate past game against debutants Nyamityobora at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium last week.

This was also the first game under new coach Douglas Bamweyana who took over the club after Moses Basena mutually parted ways with the historic club.

Maroons has also had its own tale of a rich story to write home about, struggling to find a footing under George “Best” Nsimbe, losing 1-0 at home in the immediate past encounter against 12-time league champions KCCA at their Luzira fortress.

Key actors and battles:
The Jogoos continue with the re-building process in a bid to restore their fading glory as they early the 17th league crown since 2004.

On form Bashir Mutanda, Pius “Muzeei” Wangi, Ashraf Mandela, Albert Mugisa, senior player Mike Sserumaga, Ajab Abdulrahman, David Owori and captain Ambrose Kirya are some of the offensive minded guns that Bamweyana will dwell upon.

In defence, veteran Habib Kavuma, Shafiq Bakaki, Robert Kitabalawa, Manco Kaweesa and defensive midfielders Manco Kaweesa and Lincoln Mukisa will offer the option.

Goalkeeper Samuel Kivumbi is expected to start in the goal posts since Yusuf Wasswa limped out of their match against Nyamityobora and Brian Bwete continues with his recovery as well.

Maroons has a couple of exciting youngsters although they are yet to find a footing of late.

Solomon Walusimbi, Pius Obuya shall be expected to combine with the experienced Herman Wasswa Nteza and Brian Majwega in a bid to crack down the opposition.

This game is of equal significance to either side as theyseek to avert the awful start of the season.
