Sports Club Villa shared the spoils after a one all draw with Maroons during match day 10 of the Uganda Premier League in a rare Thursday duel played at the Mandela National Stadium.

Uganda U-20 gifted left winger Pius “TZ Iniesta” Obuya gave the Prisons run side the lead two minutes after the opening half hour.

Obuya’s goal arrived after winger Brian Majwega hit the cross bar and Obuya headed home past goalkeeper Samuel Kivumbi.

The joy for the visitors was short lived when on form Bashir Mutanda leveled the scores in the 37th minutes as the two sides returned to the Namboole locker-rooms tied one goal apiece.

Mutanda’s goal was a tap in off Ambrose Kirya’s well laid ball past towering goalie Emmanuel Akol.

The Jogoos had the chance to put the game to bed with a second half  penalty by Mutanda foiled by goalkeeper Akol.

Mutanda had been brought down in the forbidden area by the Maroons’ captain Silvester Okello.

Maroons goalkeeper was named the Pilsner man of the match.

SC Villa under Douglas Bamweyana ascends to 11th with 8 points. Maroons fall to 13th on 7 points.

The league will resume on Saturday with a couple of matches where the West Nile derby between Paidha Black Angels and Onduparaka at the Green Light Stadium will be the talk of town.

Bright Stars will host BUL at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe and Mbarara City will entertain Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
