Mpala Police triumphs in 2018 CAA netball tourney

Mpala Police out-muscled Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) 14-9  to win the second edition of the CAA netball championship held at the DAS play ground near Entebbe International Airport.

The day long gala played on a round robin format attracted 16 teams from with Entebbe and the surrounding areas.

Mpala police team had earlier ejected Seven Tigers during the semi-final contest 14-5.

In the other semi-final, Civil Aviation Authority were 11-6 winners over DAS.

Shrewd administrator Emmanuel Kasagga who habours ambitions of contesting for the Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament set come 2021 was the key brain behind this tourney.


We thought of this tournament to improve and uphold female talents in regard to netball. We shall also start another tournament in netball called Entebbe Stake-holders’ netball league.

Mpala Police team won themselves a trophy, gold medals and a goat as prizes for their hard toiled sweat.

The victorious team received the prizes from Kenneth Otim, the CAA Principal Public Officer.


I thank you for organizing such sports events as netball. This helps to keep the body and mind in proper shape. I urge the people employed at Entebbe International airport,to always engage in the sports activities.

The tournament was also bankrolled by Civil Aviation Authority to a tune of Shs 8.5M.

This was part of the sports events that marked the annual aviation week celebrations.

Other events included the 4th CAA Seniors golf tourney played at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, Aviation festival at Kakeeka Cricket oval in Entebbe, CAA Stakeholders workshop at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala as well as the Rwabushenyi Memorial Chess open championship played at Nob View Hotel, Ntinda.

Edrae Kagombe and John Mugyenzi championed the ladies and men catergories respectively of the two day golf tourney after 36 holes.

Chess Master Patrick Kawuma won the 2018 Rwabushenyi Memorial event.
