After being relegated to Division 2 of the cricket league last season, Ceylon Lions are looking at making an immediate return with the signings they have made in the off season.
Kenyan International Alex Obanda who featured for the side in the knock out stages of the T20 league will be joining the side for the full T20 season and some bit of the 50 over league.
Obanda no stranger to the Uganda local league but this is the first time will be playing a full season in Uganda.
The Lions have also scooped youngsters Marvin Kitamirike and Simon Oketcho from ACC and Strikers respectively. Kitamirike, one of the upcoming players, has good control with his left arm spin and is also a decent batsman. Oketcho, a key player with the U19 team, is an exciting prospect and leaves a side that had a good season in Division 1 but he must have felt to be excess requirements given the talent in the side.
The other signing is a civil engineer from Sri Lanka Vihanga Kalhara who has played first class cricket back in Sri Lanka. The bowling all rounder will need sometime to adapt to the difficult Divison 2 but once he finds his footing will be valuable when the local players fail.
There are players that have left the team but non of the departures have been confirmed yet.
