Phase one for the Sampdoria – Uganda youth football camp concludes successfully in Kampala

The first phase for the young Ugandan footballers (aged 6 to 16 years) organised by Excellent Sports Company and conducted by youth coaches from Italian top flight club Unione Calcio Sampdoria has concluded on Friday, 11th January 2019 at Legends Rugby club in Kampala.

The two lead coaches Marco Bracco and Roberto Morrisine are UEFA ‘B’ licence holders are expected to pass on and share valuable skills to the Ugandan youngsters.

Dubbed the ‘International Samp Camp, Uganda 2019’, this training programme started five days ago at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

From Tuesday until the end of the opening phase, the training base was shifted to Legends Rugby club in Kampala.


The first phase of the youths between 6-16 years has climaxed on Friday with the best players selected having a chance of travelling to Italy, the cost of attendance was $360, 54 footballers attended the camp.

Meanwhile, the trials phase between 17-20 year olds will start on Monday, 14th January 2019 and end on Friday 18th January 2019.

Registration for the aforementioned camp is Ug.shs 360,000 per head.

The best will head to Sampdoria Youth teams for more trials, all at a free cost.

Each of the players in this camp is given a full kit from Sampdoria and a ball.

Four of the excelling players will make the grade to Genoa, Italy for further exposure and assessment.

The Sampdoria youth coaches were invited by a Ugandan based sports marketing firm, Excellent Sports Company.

  • Do they only allow guys or even ladies cause i only saw guys /boys in the photo please?

  • Unfortunately for my son, I can’t afford that money it’s too much, I just have simple jobs to do, but my son wants to be an international footballer because he has the talent and if I had the money i would have brought him cause I knew that he would have excelled but not to waste my money because he has the talent.
