  • Bumate United Vs Bright Stars – Christ High School, Bundibugyo (4 PM)

Bright Stars Football Club faces Bumate United at Christ High School playground, Bundibugyo in the Uganda Cup on Sunday.

This is the third game in this round following two other matches played on Friday.

Fred Kajoba’s side come to this particular match with a run of poor results where they have not managed to win in the last five games, the latest being that 2-0 loss away to Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium last week.

Being a knock out game where the eventual winner will progress to the round of 16, both clubs despite playing at different wavelength (Uganda Premier League vis-a-vis FUFA Big League) have something special in common to play for.

Given the experience and quality in players for either sides, Bright Stars has a slight upper hand.

Uganda Cranes striker Nelson Senkatuka, Dan Birikwalira, Brian Kayanja, Henry Kiwanuka, Brian Enzema, Henry Kiwanuka, Fred Ssegujja, Mahad Kisekka among others are some of the players whom Bright Stars will look to for inspiration.

Bumate United’s Beckam Musoki, recently a scorer of a hat-trick in the FUFA Big League match against Kireka United will be a key pillar for the team.

KCCA FC is the defending champion for the tournament that has played since 1971.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns a direct ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation cup.

After Bright Stars game, the cup tourney will take a break on Monday before Tuesday’s only match when Kansai Plascon visits Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
