Emmanuel Okwi and Meddie Kagere scored on match day one as Simba beat Algeria’s JS Saoura 3-0 at National stadium, Dar es Salaam to assume leadership of Group D of the Caf Champions League.
Okwi broke the deadlock at the death of half time selling a dummy to two JS Saoura defenders before sending low shot to send the home fans into frenzy.
Kagere doubled the lead seven minutes after the break and the Rwanda international put the icing on the cake with a third and his second in the 67th minute.
Kagere had replaced injured skipper John Rafael Bocco after 37 minutes.
In the same group, Al Ahly won 2-0 away to AS Vita.
Elsewhere, Joseph Ochaya played 90 minutes as TP Mazembe downed Egypt’s Ismaily in Lubumbashi.
The five time champions finished the game with a man less but were too good for the Egyptian opponents.
