Jas Mangat, winner of last weekend’s opening championship event is full of praise for Arthur Blick Jr after the 2015 NRC champion’s highly impressive performance.
Blick was within close stage times with Mangat; winning three of the eight stages.
“The competition was really hot. The person who stood up the most was Arthur blick.
“His pace is really a step ahead of everyone else. He gave us a run. Whenever we were caught sleeping he got the stage. He made us really put in our best effort,” he asserted.
Blick had struggled in the past season but managed to secure second place on his return.
Mangat on Safety
After facing the most horrifying moment of his rally career, Jas Mangat has urged all fellow competitors to advocate for better safety during competitions.
During the final day of the season opener, Mangat, in a Mitsubishi EvoX had an accident with a motorcycle rider; two kilometres into the final stage of the rally. The stage was eventually cancelled.
The Pilipili Rally Team driver believes the whole fraternity must play a role in ensuring safety in an event.
“I call upon every one of us, be it organisers or drivers. If someone sees any safety infringement, any of us should be able to stand and say no, because our lives and those of fans matter before anything else. We can do something to avoid the worst from happening,” he said.
