Bright Stars ejected URA out of the this year’s Uganda Cup with a 2-1 result at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Monday.
Jamil Kalisa scored twice for Fred Kajoba’s charges before a late penalty by URA skipper Shafiq Kagimu created a tense finish to the match.
The first of Kalisa’s brace was drilled after 18 minutes as the visitors led 1-0 heading to the mandatory half time break.
Shortly after restart of play, Kalisa struck the second to double the lead.
URA in a typical show of fighting spirit got the consolation when Kagimu calmly scored a penalty for a foul on Peter Lwasa on 75 minutes.
The Bright Stars defended gallantly for the rest of the game, including the nervy nine minutes of added time to win the game 2-1 and progress to the quarter final stage.

The eight clubs at the quarter final stage are Express, Bright Stars, Vipers, BUL, Nebbi Central, Wakiso Giants, Kyetume and Proline.
Four clubs (Nebbi Central, Wakiso Giants, Kyetume and Proline) are in the FUFA Big League.
The winner of the Uganda Cup qualifies to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
