The oldest clubs in Uganda Cricket faced off at the lakeside oval in Entebbe in Division 2 50-over league.
ACC were coming off a convincing win against Premier the previous weekend but the derby against rivals Wanderers was a different ball game.
Wanderers won the toss and elected to bat on a flat deck. Denis Musali and Brian Adriko took their time scoring slowly, picking up singles and twos but also putting away the odd bad ball but that was the only meaningful partnership at the top of the order till a late order cameo from Nirav Hathi and David Kateyenge helped Wanderers post a fighting 144 all out in 48 overs.
In the chase, a timid ACC never got going with Zubair Tembo bowling some express pace front as the ACC bats went cold scoring at just under one run an over.
A 50 run partnership between Hassan Mpanuka and Micheal Kintu stabilized the innings for ACC till a hattrick by Tembo turned the game for Wanderers as they looked to get ahead in their quest for wickets.
The pressure got the better of ACC as the final three wickets fell for just 20 runs to give Wanderers a derby day win, the first for Wanderers in three years.
The win was also the first for Wanderers this season while it was the first loss for ACC this season.
Both sides are pushing for a place in the top flight after a long stay in the second tier of Uganda cricket.
