Wakiso Giants showed character, winning 2-0 away against Nebbi Central in West Nile on Thursday, to restore the previous winning touch that had eluded them of late.

Ivan Kiweewa struck their first goal on the quarter hour mark and Karim Ndugwa doubled the advantage two minutes from the half-hour mark.

Later as the match neared its climax, Isaac Ntege and Geoffrey Luutu were replaced for Abdul Karim Kasule and second goal scorer, Ndugwa.

This was Wakiso Giants’ 10th victory in 18 matches with two matches left on the menu.

The result means that Purple Sharks are now on 37 points, seven ahead of second placed Doves All Stars who have played a game less.

The Purkle Sharks now only need two wins from the remaining two matches against Doves All Stars (in Arua) and Entebbe (in Jinja) to ensure promotion.

Meanwhile, Kyetume won 2-1 at their Nakisunga Ssaza fortress to maintain a brave chase.

Ben Kahomera and towering Faisal Malangu netted the goals for Kyetume.

Away in Mbale at the CRO San Siro playground, home side Kataka FC edged 9 man Entebbe 2-0 to jump out of the relegation zone.

Peter Lusimbula (penalty) and Dan Okiror netted Kataka’s two goals.

Entebbe got two send-offs for veteran midfielder Burhan Matovu and Emmanuel Shadrack to grant numerical advantage to Kataka.

Light S.S humbled visiting Bukedea Town Council 1-0 in Amuria.

Meanwhile, in the Rwenzori group, already relegated Ntinda United suffered more misery, falling at their Lugogo home to Kansai Plascon 1-0 before a handful of fans.

Michael Bugembe’s first half strike was enough for the visiting side.

Bugembe finished past Ntinda United goalkeeper Joseph Kasozi and they defended gallantly for the rest of the poorly attended game.

Kansai Plascon’s Robert Ssentongo Junior, Allan Oryek and Henry Kitegenyo would have easily added to the goal tally but did not carry their usual scoring boots.

Ivan Kamoga, burly forward Richard Ssekatawa and former KCCA winger Farouk Kawooya were wasteful on the evening for Ntinda United.

With Kiboga Young’s 4-2 loss away to Kireka United at Mandela National Stadium, Kansai Plasco is now second on the log, three points behind leaders Proline at the final bend of the season.

Umar Mbowa starred with a hat-trick for Kireka United and Job Owora added the other to condemn Kiboga Young in arguably their heaviest loss since being promoted last season.

Abbas Kateregga and Peter Lumolo were on target for Felix Ssekabuuza’s coached side.

The other Rwenzori group game witnessed Masindi based Dove win 4-1 against 10-man visiting Water at the Katushabe playground.

Water was reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half.

There are three games left per club for the end of the regular season.

At the end of the season, three clubs will be promoted to the top flight – Star Times Uganda Premier League.

The top club per group (Elgon and Rwenzori) earns a direct slot with the third one determined via a promotional play off.

Eight clubs will be relegated in total (four per group) to the respective regional leagues.
