In-form national golfer Willy Deus Kitata continued his good form in the golfing calendar by claiming the sixth Kakira Sugar Golf Open championships at Jinja Golf Club over the weekend with a 149 gross score.
It was the second union event that the youngster was winning in a space of three weeks after winning the Kinyara Open recently.
Enroute to his winning this event he played sparkling golf on the 9 hole course which saw him sink three birdies on holes 3,5 and 12 with bogeys on holes 15,16,17 and 18, but even with that he went onto too return to the club house with a total gross score of 149 to win the three day tournament.
“I must attribute my victory to the good golf I played here I had a shaky start, but that changed after day one,” Kitata said. “My putting improved the following day, but I am grateful to my US sponsor Tim Stahlschmidt who made it possible for me to travel here too defend my crown.”
Other winners in the 40 million sponsored Kakira tournament where Jimmy Alemiga who captured group A with 140 nett.Timothy Okwi was group B winner with 138 nett while Abdallah Mohammed with 135 nett was Group C winner.
Ladies winner was UPDF’s Petra Nalwoga with 157 gross. Brian Toolit beat 16 professionals with a gross score 143 to claim the 5million shillings on offer.
