Amos Ndyagumanawe ended his year on a winning note after beating competitors to successfully defend his Christmas Cup title over the weekend.
The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) seed four defeated teammate (Skin Samona) Amos Bukenya 5-2 in the best of nine final at Capital Pub in Ggaba on Saturday night.
He may have won the Pilsner League of Kings with Skin Samona but it was quite a relief for him individually having lost this Nile Special Open Pool final to Alfred Gumisiriza back in August.
“I am happy to defend this title,” an ecstatic Ndyagumanawe said. “This is a consolation for my loss to Gumisiriza.”
Ndyagumanawe had edged veteran Jeff Milo 4-3 in the best of seven semifinal while Bukenya had beaten seed one Sula Matovu.
In the ladies’ category, Vivian Kagoya recovered from 2-1 to beat seed 4 Vicky Namuyanja 4-2 in best of seven final.
“This is the beginning for me,” Kagoya warned her opponents ahead of the next season. This was her first competitive season having joined Kyadalu late this year.
Kagoya had earlier seen off Lydia Ahimbisibwe while Namuyanja, the reigning Easter Pool winner had the upper hand over Hot Pool teammate Ritah Ninsiima 3-2 each of the best of five semis. This was the last PAU calendar event.
