Team Uganda will look to finish on a high when the ICC World Cricket League Division III reaches its business end in Bermuda on Sunday evening.
Having topped the table after the round robin frays with eight points after four wins in five, the East Africans play runners-up Nepal in the tournament final at the National Sports Stadium in Hamilton.
Nepal took second after an eight-wicket win over a hapless Italian side in their final tie at the Lords, St David’s Cricket Club Ground on Saturday.
They had tied with USA and hosts Bermuda on six points, but poised a better Net Run Rate of +0.715 and joined Uganda to the World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand next year.
Nepal will look to avenge Uganda’s six wicket-defeat when the latter made it two in two.
But Uganda’s batsmen need to yet again negotiate Nepal’s spin bowling of Basanta Regmi (10 wickets) and Sanjam Regmi (seven wickets).
“We want to revenge that loss,” was the talk of many Nepal cricket fans on Facebook after progressing on Saturday night.
“The final counts most for us now,” Uganda’s captain Davis Karashani told Kawowo Sports after Saturday’s seven wicket loss to Oman.
“That’s where the money and respect is. We made it there in time. It’s time to prove our worth.” he added.
Karashani leads Uganda’s bowling ammunition with nine wickets and nine maidens from five innnings with best bowling figures of 4/20.
The final is expected to be graced by legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara,
