18 year old Suzan Nabukenya, a rower has landed an educational scholarship courtesy of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

The offer has been confirmed by William Blick, the President, UOC. “Every year, U.O.C offers a free scholarship to outstanding athletes in the different sporting disciplines. Suzan is therefore the winner for the coming year,” Blick announced shortly before he left for Germany, where he is attending a workshop together with the state sports minister, Charles Bakkabulindi.

Nabukenya, who participated in the 2012 Africa Rowing Championships in Egypt was excited about the news.

“Am humbled by the scholarship and i believe it will open a new chapter in my life. I promise to continue working hard to excel in rowing locally and internationally,” a visibly excited Nabukenya, a 1st year mass communication student at YMCA told Kawowo sports.

Nabukenya was born and raised in Kawempe, went to Pic Hill Primary school before she completed her O level education at Lutembe International School, from where she enrolled for a certificate in mass communication at YMCA, Kampala Branch.
