RESULTS: Rwenzori 18-24 Top Fry Ndovu.
Third Place Playoff- UAP Papa 44-21 Bollore Nyumbu
Ndovu a Kenyan franchise was declared, the 2013 Bamburi Rugby Super series winners after beating Rwenzori 24-18 in the finals at RFUEA Grounds in Kenya.
It was agony again as last year’s runners up Rwenzori failed to match the standards of counterparts Ndovu though they had managed to see off Nyumbu 32-00 at home at Kyadondo as they failed to break the buffer zone of Ndovu.
Javan Murayi opened the scoring with a try for Ndovu, and then Michael Okombe added another try for Ndovu as their kicker Martin Muita missed the two conversions after the tries for Kenyan Franchise Ndovu as Rwenzori chased shadows.
Youngster Joseph Aredo replied for Rwenzori with a penalty to try narrowing the gap that was created by the Ndovu franchise making it 10-3. Before the half time mark, Lawi Buyachi made it 15-3 for Nodvu.
Martin Muita grabbed a penalty kick to stretch Ndovu’s lead to 18 points leaving their counterparts desperate for the next move until Joseph Aredo converted his second penalty on the occasion to bring some relief to Rwenzori.
Mutia converted another penalty for Ndovu taking the tally to 21-06 for Ndovu and at this point it looked done for Ndovu before Rwenzori’s reaction. Asuman Mugerwa clinched the first try for Rwenzori and latter on Dennis Etuket made the second try with a conversion from Faisal Gama
Muita sinks his 3rd penalty of the day for the Ndovu, to take the scores to Rwenzori 18-24 Ndovu.
Ndovu’s Muita and Papa’s Olando shared the series’ top points scorer with 61 each while Muita was named the player of the series. Ndovu’s duo of Lawrence Buyachi and Dalmas Chituyi were the joint top try scorers of the series with four each.
