Reigning Confederation of African Volleyball Women Club Champions Kenya Prisons could make a stopover to neighboring Uganda on their way to the World Club Championship in Switzerland from October 8 – 13.
The five-time African champions are some of the big names invited for the 17th edition of the NSSF KAVC International slated for August 10-11. Recently crowned Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament winners Kenya Pipeline, they have also won the African title seven times, and they are the record holders.
Their presence will shatter the dream of KCCA defending their title or even another local club winning it, but learning a thing or two is what is important for Ugandan female volleyball players.
“The best of what the continent can offer in regards to continental volleyball, power, agility, flamboyance and systems,” International referee Hadija Namanda said about the two Kenyan sides.
Winning 12 African titles between themselves means that Prisons and Pipeline have been at 12 World Club Championship.
NSSF KAVC International women defending champions KCCA and host KAVC played against Pipeline early this month during the Genocide memorial Volleyball tournament.
“Playing against such a side just makes you a better player,” said KCCA’s Prosy Alobo. Alobo played against Pipeline during the continental Women Championship in Madagascar where she was turning out for Ndejje Elites.
