Former Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson is on the verge of taking over at Kenya Premier League (KPL) club Gor Mahia Goal.com reports. According to reliable sources close to Goal.com, Williamson arrived in Nairobi on Thursday and held talks with Gor Mahia top officials.

Nevertheless, Goal further reports that there was no official confirmation from the K’Ogalo officials but a source which preferred anonymity revealed Williamson touched at the Moi International airport at 9.00am EAT.

“He (Williamson) has arrived and he is now going to a hotel to meet Gor officials to begin discussions,” a source, who sought anonymity told Goal. If all goes well, the source said that the Scot will be unveiled on Friday morning as the new Gor Mahia coach.

Gor Mahia job fell vacant two weeks ago following the sacking of Croatian Zdravko Logarusic, who failed to return back to Kenya from holiday following an international break. In his absence, assistant coach John “Bobby” Ogolla has acted as the interim manager and has handled the club’s last three games winning one and drawing two.

Besides Williamson, other coaches that have shown interest in replacing Logarusic include former Sports Club Victoria University Coach Ivan Zoric, Serbians Damilo Doncic, Momcilo Medic and Zoran Pefic, Irishman Amrore Oghenerwede Zion and Englishman Dave Booth.

Williamson lost the Cranes job in April after handling the Cranes for close to five years winning four CECAFA Tusker Challenge Cup and twice missed taking Uganda to the finals of Africa Nations Cup by a whisker in (2012 and 2013).

Despite losing his job, Williamson never relocated to Scotland but remained in Uganda with sources indicating he was waiting for an opportunity in the region. Efforts to speak to him about these reports were futile but we shall keep you updated on the development.
