Former Nkumba University Football Club skipper, Yassar Mugerwa has signed a Ug Shs. 12 M deal with big spending Sports Club Victoria University Kawowo Sports has reliably learnt.

“I am very happy for realizing my long term life dreams of playing in the Uganda’s elite football league”, an excited Yassar spoke to Kawowo Sports.

Mugerwa,19, who played division one football with Rubaga based Super Cubs before joining Nkumba University is an attacking midfielder cum striker who was at times sacrificed as a holding midfielder. Mugerwa guided Nkumba University through the Wakiso first division through to the FUFA big league.

“We expect that his ball holding abilities and creative play will add something special to the team”, SC VU Head coach Alex Isabirye said of the calm midfielder, who is awaiting graduation in Public Administration and Management studies at Nkumba University.

 Mugerwa is another graduate of the Buganda Masaza tournament where he helped Gomba Ssaza to the title in 2009. He also participated in the MTN Inter-regions Tournament for Kampala region in Lira. He is also an active player with Nkima Clan in the Bika Bya Baganda football tourney.

“It’s been a deal long overdue; Mugerwa is unique talent that would be ripe for Professional stints in a few years to come. His discipline on and off the soccer ground plus diligence has rewarded him”, Chris Kimuli, one of the coaches at Nkumba University said of him.

Meanwhile, Sports Club Victoria University has also acquired a 31 old defensive midfielder Emmanuel Balyejusa from Water F.C for an undisclosed fee, Maroon’s Mutyaba Muzamiru (Ug.Shs.7 M), SC Villa’s Isaac Muleme, Joseph Kayiira (Water), Dan Nsubuga (Nkumba University) and the club is in advanced talks with former SC Villa player, and now at relegated club-Victors, Muwadda Mawejje, goalie Benjamin Ochan for a possible move. The club is also interested in the services of KCCA Captain, Richard Malinga, who is looked at as a possible replacement for Savio Kabugo who is set to complete his transfer to South African giants, Bid vest University.

Defender cum mid fielder, Dennis Iguma is reportedly been in talks with Tanzanian giants, Yanga Club.
