31st August: Nile Special Open Pool Championships

The 7th Edition of the Nile Special Open Pool Championships has seen more surprises than any other edition.

Four of the country’s top seeds, Yves Kaneza, Ronnie Kalungi,Charles Ssegawa and Ssalongo Asuman Bukenya got knocked out in round one while Amos Nyagumanawe lost in the round of 32 to Gulu’s Emma Occitti.

By press time, there has been a lot to play for as  Alfred Gumikiriza had won against John Kasuku (4-0) , Fahad Ssewankambo  against Adam Ssebi ,Allan Nsubuga played Edward Kamoga, Jonan Turigye up against Jackson Ssenkindu, Sula Matovu lost against Artman Kabubi 3-4 in one of the most tense games of the tournament, Joseph Mutawe playing against  Isaac Lwanga , Ocitti Emma P’Atingo vs Richard Kizito , Siraje Kasirye and Saul Mugerwa.
