Uganda professional golfer Deo Akope, will return to action in the Ras Al Khaumah Classic at the Tower Links Golf Club from October 14-17.
The Uganda Professional Golfers Association captain returns after failing to make the cut in last week’s Shaikh Maktoum Dubai Open where he shot 155 gross.
“The courses are not that hard but the conditions get harsh, but the weather is getting better now,” Akope said. “Unfortunately their no caddies here so we use carts on the course to follow our shots.”
Akope is the second Ugandan golfer to try out the lucrative Mena Golf Tour last year Godfrey Mande, made an attempt, but had a dismal performance.
The Entebbe based Akope is looking to make the cut in this event so that he can land an opportunity to play in next year’s European Golf tour.
The top prize is $50,000(sh126.3m) that will be shared by 50 professional players in the tournament other East African golfers in the event include Kenya’s duo of Greg Snow and Hardeep Theuty together with Rwanda’s Jean Baptiste Hakizimana.
