Harambee Stars striker Jacob Keli has called on Kenyan fans to stop criticizing players but instead offer them necessary support in the ongoing GOtv Cecafa Cup.

The KCB centre forward who was voted man of the match in Kenya’s 2-0 win over Zanzibar in the final group A game reminded the fans that Kenya is one and so they should be united for a cause citing a situation when they booed Allan Wanga against South Sudan but were all praises for him today.

“I am calling out the Kenyan fans, stop criticizing us but give us support”, he told Supersport.com as he collected his man of the match award. “For instance, Wanga is my good friend despite playing for different clubs. We are like brothers and fans must know that,” Keli added.

“Wanga was criticized in the previous game but he scored today and fans are cheering”, he argued.

On his performance and the win, Keli said that he is happy with the result despite a goal eluding him.

“I am happy but the goal has been elusive today”, he stated. “I just have to be patient. The game is not all about me but the entire team.”

With Kenya and Ethiopia tied in everything, a coin toss will be used to determine who tops the group but Keli is not bothered.

“Football is a gamble. Whether top or not, you never know how difficult the team you face is. The good thing is that is we are winning matches and we are getting better and better and hope by the time we play the next game, we are a notch higher”.

Keli despite missing on the score sheet was involved in the two goals Amrouche’s side got today with his back heeled pass leading to Wanga’s strike.
