Timothy Okwi from Entebbe and Kathy Kabenge, were all smiling at the 19th hole as they won the Kenya Day Golf tournament that was sponsored by Kenya Airways at the Uganda Golf Club on Saturday evening.

Okwi overcame a strong field of close to 150 golfers to claim the overall crown with 38 stableford points and earn himself a business class ticket to Nairobi,a Zuku decoder and 50 litres of fuel from Mogas Petroleum.

Kathy Kabenge, hauled the same number of points to claim similar awards and a economic class ticket to Nairobi.

The tournament was being hosted to celebrate 50 years of Independence for the Republic of Kenya. Karanja Karubu was the winner group A with 37 points winning himself a weekend for two at Serena Hotel and 50 litres of Mogas fuel.

Uganda Golf Club vice-captain Paul Baite, was winner group B with 37 points while group C was won by Shukla Paresh with 32 points.

Flavia Namakula, was group A winner with 34 points while Shiela Kesiime was group B winner with 37 points.

The one day tournament was sponsored by Kenya Airways other co-sponsors included East African Breweries, Mogas Uganda, Zuku TV, Multiple Industries,Serena Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Coca Cola, KPA, KCB and ICEA.
