13th Feb Ranking: Uganda 84th (400 Points)
Uganda Cranes has accelerated 3 places to 84th in the latest Fifa / Coca Cola rankings released on Thursday evening.
Uganda’s leap from the 87th position is attributed to the performance in the recent Championships of African Nations (CHAN) football Championships that held in January in South Africa.
Pooled in group B, Uganda beat west African opposition, Burkina Faso 2-1 before drawing goalless in the next game against Zimbabwe.
Morocco whipped Uganda 3-1 to seal their own qualification to the next level of competition to send the East African representatives crashing out of the championships.
Despite winning the CHAN championships last month, the Mediterranean Lions of Libya have slipped 6 places to 68th on 523 points.
Uganda remains the best and highest ranked country in the entire CECAFA region. Ethiopia is second best in the 101st position with 329 points.
Spain still leads the world ranking on 1506 points . Germany, Argentina, Portgual and Colombia complete the top 5.
The highest climbers of 2013, thanks to nine wins, two draws and only one defeat, are Ukraine, who have collected no fewer than 312 points since December 2012, moving up 29 places to 18th and gaining the title of Mover of the Year for the first time.
Ivory Coast is Africa’s best ranked team in 23rd position with 841 points on the rankings that will be released once again on 13th March 2014.
The lowest ranked nations in the world are Bhutan, San Marino , the Turks and Caicos Islands, all jointly tied in 207th position with no point recorded.
