Uganda started with a BIG SPLASH by winning a gold and silver on the opening day of the four day CANA ZONE III and IV swimming championships this morning at Kampala Parents School at Lugogo by pass.

Kimberly Hind won her race in the Girls 14 and Under 800 Freestyle in a time of 9.42.30 seconds to win the country it’s first gold medal and also bag 20 points in the process. Seychelles Felicity Passon and South Africa’s Dane Steyn finished second and third to scoop silver and bronze.

Uganda’s other medal was claimed in the Boys 14 and Under Freestyle were Nuwa Senkebe Serunjogi, got a silver medal in a time of 10.19.20 to finish second behind Kenya’s Matteo Rosafio who clocked 9.33.20 while Kenya’s Kabir Bedi, was third in a time of 10.33.80.

The 12th edition of the CANA Zone III and IV swimming championships has attracted ten nations they include Angola, Burundi, Seychelles, Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The four day swimming championship is sponsored by the Nabagereka Development Foundation, Mulwana Group of Companies, Kampala Parents’School, Gems Cambridge International School Uganda, Centenary Bank, Coca Cola, Midland Group, Umeme, GOtv and Sir Apollo Kagwa Schools.
