CHAN 2016 Return Leg: Uganda 1-1 Tanzania (FT)
Aggregate Score: Uganda 4-1 Tanzania
A late goal from second half substitute, Kezironi Kizito salvaged some pride for Uganda at Nakivubo stadium in Kampala with a one all draw against Tanzania on Saturday.
This has been the return leg of the CHAN 2016 qualifier, and the recipe for Uganda 4-1 aggregate victory is that berth against Sudan at the next stage.
After a dull first half that witnessed the two countries glued goal-less, the game lit up in the second stanza.
A goal bound shot from David Deus Kaseke was held in the area and the Djibouti match official did not hesitate to point to the spot.
John Raphael Bocco converted from the penalty kick to give the Tanzanians the lead.
Micho then called for the changes to see the home side fights gallantly.
Striker, Frank Kalanda was the first to be introduced in the 48th minute for John Ssemazzi, who had been booked at the end of the first half.
Yasser Mugerwa replaced a limping Derrick Tekwo in the 56th minute before the final change of the game when goal scorer, Kezironi Kizito came in for Erisa Ssekisambu with 10 minutes of action left.
Mugerwa later missed a sitter from Frank Kalanda’s well laid effort on the right side of the pitch.
Moments after coming on, Robert Sentongo broke through on the left and his well laid ball beat the entire Tanzanian back line before Kizito executed a left footed effort for the equalizer.
In the opening half, the visitors had started the game on bright note winning a first minute corner when Saimon Happgod Msuva’s mazy run down the left was thwarted by Brian Ochwo.
Uganda steadily clawed back into the game and John Ssemazzi would have easily put the hosts ahead had he executed an attempt on target from inside 10 yards after Ssekisambu’s delivery.
Tanzania had a goal disallowed for offside when John Raphael Bocco’s well timed header was cancelled by Djibouti official, Djamal Aden Aden Abdi for off side.
Farouk Miya had a goal bound effort tipped over the bar for a corner by goal keeper, Ally Mustapha at the half hour mark.
Uganda progress to face Sudan for a two legged challenge, whose winner on aggregate will qualify for the CHAN finals in Rwanda come 2016.
