Hours after Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) referees standing committee had communicated the four month suspension of referee Robert Donney, the official himself remains defiant.
Donney told Kawowo Sports on Wednesday afternoon;
That is news to me. As far as I know, I am a free man. Nobody has written to me any letter nor e-mail, not even a phone call
The referees standing committee head Sam Mpiima told the media that Donney had been suspended 4 months for poor performance during the aborted SC Villa and KCC Uganda Cup final at Kyamate play ground.
His other assistants, Musa Balikowa (first assistant referee), Robert Bakwali (second assistant referee) and the fourth official, Brian Miiro Nsubuga, a FIFA referee also got 2 months off the whistle.
Donney perhaps highlights that his next step and course of action will depend upon the moment he finally receives the communication.
The Kasese based referee added;
I do not reject the ‘bad thing’ but what I will do next will depend on the time when I receive the notification
The suspension was effected on 1st July 2015.
