Netball World Cup Warm Up Games:

  • Wednesday Result: Uganda She Cranes 39-18 Singapore
  • Thursday, 6th August 2015: Uganda Vs Samoa

Uganda national netball team, the She Cranes won their first official world cup warm-up game 39-18 against Singapore on Wednesday.

The encouraging result comes in the wake of the first loss 67-46 at the hands of New Zealand in the opening build up game played on Sunday, just hours after the team arrived in Sydney for the games.

The team’s head coach, Rashid Mubiru is only worried of the chilly weather conditions but hopes the players will swiftly adjust in a record time ahead of the games which start Friday.

We shall continue to get used to the weather conditions. I am happy we have started to register a win. We hope this conditions against Samoa on Thursday and in the actual world cup games.

Uganda takes on Samoa in the third and final warm up game on Thursday.

Uganda, currently ranked number three on the African continent kick starts the World Cup journey with a date against fellow African nation, Zambia on Friday before playing Fiji and Wales in the subsequent days.

The players are all in good moods and they are accommodated at Edith Hotel in Syndey.

Uganda last featured in the Netball World Cup in 1979, in a tournament played on the Trindad and Tobago islands.
