The 7th Uganda Open Woodball championship teed off at St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi with several categories in contention for the top honours.
Entebbe based schools, Entebbe Junior School and St. Agnes Primary School won in boy’s and girl’s respective categories.
Over 6 fairways, Entebbe Junior School returned 99 strokes to finish top in the boys’ category.
Victor’s Junior Christian School and St. Agnes both returned identical results of 105 strokes to finish in second and third positions respectively.

Nalugala Primary School and new entrants St. Donozio Primary School took the fourth and fifth slots with 112 and 115 strokes respectively.
In the girl’s category St. Agnes primary school took the day with 123 strokes beating Entebbe Junior School with a stroke that finished in second place with 124 strokes.
Victor’s junior Christian school, Nalugala Muslim and St. Donozio primary school finished in third, fourth and fifth place with 129, 137 and 144 strokes respectively.
Primary School’s individual’s categories:
Joshua Muyinza (Victors Junior Christian School) finished top with 19 stokes while Charles Lam (Entebbe Junior School) and Ronald Nsereko from (St. Agnes) settled for second and third place with identical results of 23 strokes.
In the girl’s category St. Agnes’ Mariam Nagasha emerged winner with 26 strokes.
Julianah Kirudde (St. Donozio) and Josephine Nabiryo (St. Agnes primary school) settled for second and third place with 27 and 28 strokes respectively.
All the winners in the boy’s and girl’s category walked away with medals courtesy of new sponsor Coral coatings.
Secondary Schools Category:
In the boy’s category, Entebbe based Airforce Secondary School had the last smile.
They returned a total of 228 strokes to emerge winners and lift the coveted title after playing a total of 12 fairways.
Kyambogo College School came second with 245 strokes while Luzira S.S and Mpoma Boys S.S finished in third and fourth positions with 250 and 288 strokes respectively.
In the Girl’s event, Kyambogo College School returned 245 strokes to finish top and clinch the accolade.
Airforce secondary school came second with 258 strokes while Luzira S.S and Mpoma Girls S.S took third and fourth slots with 265 and 283 strokes respectively.
Secondary School’s individual’s categories:
Azaabo Kizito (Airforce secondary School) returned 54 strokes to finish top in the boy’s category.
He beat his school mate Mathias Kizito (57 strokes) with three strokes who settled for second position.
Eric Ibanda (Kyambogo Secondary School) finished third with 58 strokes.
Shamim Bukola (Airforce) won the girls’ category with 52 strokes.
She beat her two opponents from Kyambogo College School Beatrice Alinda (57 strokes) and Nancy Namisango (59 strokes) who finished in second and third positions.
Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) President Paul Mark Kayongo appreciated the new title sponsors, Coral Coatings Limited for their big contribution.
So far the tournament has been a great success. I would like to thank coral Coating Limited for their contribution towards the championship. They have entered in our archive books as important partners that we cannot forget. Unlike other previous championships this edition has registered an increase in number of participants from primary and secondary schools, universities and clubs. Such championships help us select players who will represent Uganda on the National Team
The championship climaxes Sunday with the clubs/universities and corporate teams battling for the top prizes.
A total of 24 fairways were covered on the opening day with the remaining 12 for the climax to make 36 over the two day’s event.
Five primary and ten secondary schools took part in the championship.
