Alex Mulibanga ‘Mabanga’ Gitta is the head coach for Uganda Premier League side, Express Football Club.

With a bold belief that he has the impetus to effectively represent the views of the common people, Gitta is contesting for a seat in the national parliament.

He is among the nine candidates that are campaigning for the Entebbe Municipality constituency seat to replace Muhammed Kawuma who is not seeking re-election having served for the past two terms.

The eloquent youthful politician who inclines to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Gitta notes;

I want to represent the people of Entebbe Municipality. I am the official of the voice-less.

People of Entebbe, I am here to serve you and represent your views

Gitta, a former footballer with Masaka based Kiswera S.S, Ruhinda F.C and Entebbe Victoria F.C,  is one of the most qualified coaches in Uganda, having attained the CAF A license coaching certification in the 2015.

He previously had a stint at Entebbe F.C as technical director but quit the club alongside the coach then Mathias Lule, citing unbearable working conditions at the club.

Entebbe F.C was relegated to the second division at the close of business of the 2013/14 season.

Key of the pillars that Gitta fronts on his manifesto are equality, unity, sports promotion and development.

Being a Sports pro gentleman, I will front all the views that target the promotion of sports in the country.

I will also agitate for fair and equal representation in the national parliament as well as fostering unity, first in my consistency and nationally as a whole

Besides his coaching job at Express F.C, Gitta is also law clerk in one of Kampala’s renown law firms.

Other individuals with a sporting back ground that eye parliament are; Jasper Aligewesa (Luweero Municipality), Dorcus Inzikuru (Northern region, youth parliamentarian) as well as sports journalists, Allan ‘Bwiino’ Ssewanyana (Makindye East) and Ivan Kyeyune (Nakasongola)

Time passes and distance separates but will Gitta and the rest of the crop succeed on their way to parliament?
