Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has contributed $1000 to the father of the ailing Uganda Cranes goalie, Abel Dhaira who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

FUFA Vice president, Darious Mugoye made the announcement during special prayers organized by the family and friends of the talented goalkeeper whose contract at IBV in Iceland officially expires on Easter Sunday, 27th March 2016.

Abel Dhaira was a committed, talented and loyal servant of the Uganda Cranes. As FUFA, we have contributed $1000 to the family. We continue to pray for his quick recovery.

Other contributors included; Hajji Siraji Nkendembi (600,000), Muhammed Faizal of JMC Hippos (1 million), Member of Parliament Hon. Paul Mwiru, (1 million) and many others are expected to react swiftly in a desperate move to save the life of the ailing star best remembered for his penalty saving expertism and extra ordinary thrilling entertainment once in the goal posts.

Football coaches Sam Ssimbwa, George Best Nsimbe, retired and active players, Jinja’s outspoken preacher, Pastor Moses Ssemambo, friends and well wishers attended the special prayers held at the home of Dhaira’s father, Bright Dhaira senior in Walukuba, Jinja district.

In a related development, Uganda Cranes players will don special T shirts and carry banners before the warm up of the return leg for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Burkina Faso at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Hajji Siraji Nkendembi proposed to organise an Abel Dhaira football tournament.

Abel Dhaira’s current health situation is worrying since he is now a life support system.

He previously played at Express F.C, URA F.C, Simba Sports Club (Tanzania) and has had two stints at IBV in Iceland.
