  • Proline Vs Ndejje University
  • Sporting United Vs Masavu

The race to the 2016/17 Uganda Premier League continues with the four successful clubs that were the top performers behind the group winners swinging into action.

Proline and Masavu finished behind the eventual Rwenzori Group winner, Kirinya-Jinja S.S whilst Sporting United and Ndejje University were the second two best clubs from the Elgon Group.

Proline plays Ndejje University ehile Sporting United will take on Masavu in the semi finals to determine the two clubs that will meet in a final for the one team to join Onduaparaka and Kirinya S.S as the three clubs promoted to the Uganda Premier League.

The FUFA Competitions department will confirm the playoffs venue and dates.

Last Saturday, Kirinya-Jinja S.S and Onduparaka were directly promoted to the Premier League after the climax of the FUFA Big League regular season.

Kirinya-Jinja S.S came from a goal down to beat Wandegeya 3-2 at Kanyanya play ground as Proline faltered at Kasese New Villa in Fort portal to a one all draw.

James ‘Demba’ Otim put Jinja ahead in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Shafiq Mulangira then netted a brace as Wandegeya led  2-1 by the half time whistle. Jinja S.S equalized through Otim before right back, Allan Drajuwa got the winning goal.

Meanwhile, Proline succumbed to a late equalizer in Fort Portal to Kasese New Villa as the tie ended one all in a rain laden fixture.

Fahad Bayo gave Proline the lead after 30 minutes but they succumbed to a late Joseph Sunday goal in the rains at the Buhinga play ground in Fort Portal.

In the Elgon Group, Arua’s Onduparaka walloped Lira’s Sporting United 3-0 to book a berth to the top division league. Rashid Agau, Muhammed Shaban and Wahabu Gaddaffi’ second half penalty gave them the much deserved victory.

Eight clubs were confirmed as relegated to the respective Regional Leagues.

Kira Young, Bukedea Town Council, CRO and Lira United  have gone down from the Elgon Group.

The Rwenzori Group relegated clubs are Masaka Local Council, Citizen, Kasese New Villa and Wandegeya.
