Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale Campus and Walukuba Jinja won the inaugural Injectaplan Eastern Regional qualifiers of the Inter-Regional Netball Tournament held at the Mbale Cricket Oval in Mbale.
Walukuba Jinja won the clubs category as UCU Mbale Campus took home the Institutions affair after overcoming Butaleja Global and Jinja School of Nursing respectively.
Walukuba Jinja who earlier overcame Jinja Central 19-16 in the semi-final beat Butaleja Global in a tight game that ended 19-17 to win the clubs title.

On the other hand, UCU Mbale branch defeated Jinja School of Nursing 16-11 in the final.
UCU Mbale Campus and Walukuba Jinja thus booked themselves the first two slots ahead of the finals that will have eight teams countrywide vying for the overall trophy.

This tournament will help to spread the Injectaplan awareness, a family planning method to mothers countrywide will also help grow the sport and widen the scoop of selection during national team engagements
The countrywide event sponsored by Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG) under their Injectaplan brand attracted 12 teams from five districts of Mbale, Sironko, Butaleja, Tororo and Jinja.
Teams that participated include; UCU Mbale branch, Medical Laboratory, UCC Tororo, Jinja Central, Walukuba, Mbale She Cranes, Butaleja Global, Uganda Technical College Elgon, Sironko, Mbale United, Jinja School of Nursing and International Institute of Health Science – Jinja.

UHMG’s Injectaplan brand has sponsored the event that will also have competition in three other regions of Western, Northern and Central before the final slated for October 29 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Kampala.
Meanwhile, action continues this Friday (October 7th) with the Western tour in Mbarara.
Over the years, netball in Uganda has been only played in schools, higher learning institutions, league basis as well as the ever competitive national championships.
The re-birth of the inter-regions will definitely provide a wide pool of selection of talent from across the different regions of the country.
