Al-Salam Wau claimed their second trophy of the season after beating Young Stars Torit 3-0 in the final of the South Sudan Cup at Juba Stadium.
With just a game left to the end of regular season, the side entered the game as Wau state champions, and they were able to add the Cup to their list of honours this season with a convincing performance.
A brace from Samy Abuhuzifa and a strike from Oliver Kangi were enough to down Young Stars as the side coached by Ramzi Sebit Lumoro secured their first cup since 2012.
The three-man attack comprising Kangi, Abuhuzifa and Ugandan Innocent Kinyera, formerly at Baza Holding was as expected, a handful for the Torit side, and the defence marshaled by Nigerian Michael Kalu was equally exceptional on the day.
It was a remarkable ending for the side that didn’t concede a single goal in the competition thanks to the consistent back four of Richard Zibey, Hassan Rugdi, Kalu and Edward Jovan, and goalkeeper Robert Joseph. Kalu was voted the best defender in the zone.
