Dutch international Josefien de Ridder capped a fantastic comeback against Tanzania on Tuesday as tournament debutants Wananchi secured their first win at the Africa Cup of Club Championship at City Park Stadium, Nairobi- Kenya.

Tanzania set the pace for the game and took the lead earlier on but a resilient Wananchi side equalized through Catherine Nakiggwe to end the first 35 minutes of the game 1-1.

De Ridder then made sure of the three points in the second half to hand Wananchi their first victory at the annual tournament.

The result meant Wananchi were finally able to find the back of the net having failed to do so in their previous two games.

The win coupled with Weatherhead’s victory over Wananchi [M] meant only two Ugandan sides have tasted victory in Nairobi.

Day four results.

In other day’s results, Weatherhead Gazelles suffered another damaging defeat in form of 9-0 defeat to defending champions Telkom Orange from Kenya in their second game of the tournament.

Away from Ugandan sides, defending champions in the men’s category Eastern Company from Egypt suffered their first loss at the tournament. Kenya Police beat the side 2-1 to move to second in Pool A on goal difference.

Ghana Police [M] were 1-0 winners over Egyptian side Sharkia, while their ladies side drew 2-2 with Herastland.
