Benjamin Ochan was the hero as KCCA FC knocked out Al Masry from the CAF Confederation Cup and advanced to the group stage of the competition.

The lanky goalkeeper stood broad in goal to save two Al Masry penalties and scored his kick as the Kasasiro advanced 4-3 after a 1-1 aggregate score in regulation time.

Egyptian side Al Masry put the visitors on the back foot right from kickoff but their first real chance at goal arrived in the 15th minute when Gomma’s shot went inches wide of Benjamin Ochan’s right hand post.

Al Masry kept asking questions, and in the 25th minute Gomma found the break through with a sublime finish past Ochan from a through ball.

As the half neared the end, center half, Islam Salem found himself in a scoring position and could have made two for the Egyptians but his header went wide.

Denis Okot was booked for protesting referees decision after he called a clear foul by Timothy Awany.

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the hosts despite their dominance.

While the hosts threw a lot bodies in front after recess, there were no further goals as KCCA’s defense stayed tight and the tie was to be decided via a shootout.

The Shootout

After the toss, Benjamin Ochan was the first between the goal posts. He was beaten by Al Masry skipper Ossama Moursi.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma who came off the bench made no mistake with KCCA’s first kick and the score was 1-1.

Ochan then took over to save Said Elsaid’s kick.

Muzamiru Mutyaba then converted his and KCCA led the nerve wrecking shootout 2-1.

Ochan was at it again, diving the right way to save Ahmed Monsour’s kick.

Timothy Awany made it 3-1 for KCCA with his kick before Ochan was beaten by Al Masry’s goal scorer Ahmed Gomma.

Brian Majwega rustled his kick on to the crossbar and Elsayed Abdelaal took advantage to give Al Masry some hope in the tense shootout.

Benjamin Ochan then took on the responsibility of taking the decisive penalty for KCCA. He left Ahmed Abdelahim almost static with his kick as KCCA went into wild celebrations.
