The National Volleyball League will volley off earlier than scheduled as the new team in office takes charge of their first edition of national competition.

Earlier scheduled for May 6, the League is now set to get underway on May 4.

“…please note that due to some circumstances, our league launch will be on 4th May 2017 starting at 1800hrs,” a statement sent to the different team managers Friday morning partly reads.

The changes will see reigning ladies’ category champions Ndejje Elites take on Sport-S in the first fixture of this year’s league action.

Andrew Okapis’ charges Nemostars will then tussle it out with Sport-S in the men’s game of the night.

Because of the turmoil that dominated Ugandan volleyball last year, the men’s Serie A League didn’t end while the ladies’ category had some teams withdrawing from competing.

Despite the changes, however, the fixtures set for 6th and 7th will remain as they were with only the venue changing from Lugogo to Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Nakawa.

Nemostars won the last league title to be competed for in 2015 while Ndejje Elites are the defending champions from last year’s ladies’ competition.
