Simba made an encouraging start to the National Hockey League with a 5-0 thumping of Rockets on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.

The side took an early lead in the 9th minute through Bishop Otim before Andrew Lubega doubling the advantage that ended the first half 2-0.

Ahmed Malki then opened the scoring in the second half before Javier Fransco registering his name on the score sheet five minutes later.

And with eight minutes to full time, Lubega completed his brace to ensure his side registers a comfort win.

It was a win that took them top of the table, dislodging Kampala Hockey Club Stallions who beat Weatherhead [M] 2-1 on Saturday on goal difference.

The side will head into game week two on top of the table standings.

For Rockets, they are bottom of the table on goal difference.
